I live in Fargo with my wonderful husband Ryan, my daughter Julia, and the cutest English Bulldog you will ever meet, Rakken.
To know me is to know the people I love: I’ve been blessed with great stories and memories, and I hope to one day consider the measure of my life to be the great people that were a part of it all.
Living in North Dakota, how often do you hear, "Where are you from?" I enjoy telling people about my hometown up north, Rolette, North Dakota. It's so close to the border that I often joke about how I'm almost Canadian! It is absolutely beautiful, and could easily be considered one of those undiscovered Gems of North Dakota. I highly recommend checking out the Peace Gardens or the Turtle Mountains if you are headed that way.
I now call Fargo home. I have been in Fargo since 2007. In fact, this year marks 10 years! I fell in love with the community in 2009 during the flood; I will forever be in awe of the efforts of our community, and I will forever be proud to call this place my home. We are truly blessed to live here.
So what's my background? Well, Before I made my way to Fargo, I attended my first year of college at UND, until I decided (on a whim) to attend massage school. I had big dreams of traveling the world with my new profession. Travel South I did! 75 miles. I spent several years working as a Massage Therapist at Hair Success, here in Fargo. I eventually graduated from NDSU with a background in Public Policy. In 2012 I was active with the Smoke Free ND Campaign and also worked with a grant program in Traill and Steele County.
More recently I worked as a Recruiter/Talent Advisor at TMI Hospitality. Helping others make the change from one company to another can be VERY stressful; I like to think that it was great preparation for the stress of buying and selling.
What is it I like to do-
Can I cook for you? NO, SERIOUSLY, Can I cook for you? It's likely that I think I am the next Julia Child, but the reality is, I'm not that good. It still doesn't change how much I love spending time on new recipes with friends and family.
I also can never get enough time on the lake; I once asked my husband to forgo the engagement ring for a boat! And in conjunction, I can never get enough of camping, hiking and campfires.
Of course, I still have dreams of traveling; I really enjoy new experiences and meeting new people.
I cherish great friendships, and great conversationalists!
And finally, who can forget the simple joys of yoga and meditation. I worked in the spa industry, is this really a surprise?
And I can never get enough of...
Strangely, I can never get enough of Duluth and Lake Superior. I also sometimes listen to Brandi Carlile on repeat.
The easiest way to my heart is with tacos, La Croix, and shoe shopping.
Please don't ever ask me about guilded-age mansions, I am a sucker for glitz and will likely bore you as I drown on and on about Newport!
Favorite TV Show/Movie?
There are so many great works out there, Madmen, The Office. I'd really love to meet the person that can pick a favorite movie-- I can't! I am, however, a sucker for 'stupid' comedies.
Just make sure you have respect for others, and we'll never have a problem!
"For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the courage to start all over again." F. Scott Fitzgerald
Favorite Charity & Why:
NPR- I love Public Radio!!!
What’s the first real estate you purchased? Do you still own it?
My first real estate purchase was in Mayville, ND. It was a cute Dutch-Colonial with lots of character. It was a very proud personal moment, as I purchased the property without a spouse or the help of my parents. That house, along with the year I purchased will always be special to me, not just because it was the first home I ever owned, but because I made so many great memories there.
